To the left, the oval municipal seal of Cloppenburg bearing the legend SIGILLUM CIVITATIS CLOPPENBURGENSIS and the date 1591, enclosing a standing figure of a bishop saint. The denomination is set in large bold type at centre reading Zehn Milliarden Mark, with the issue text above and the redemption clause below; the date Cloppenburg, den 23.
