Obverse description Central device features the Polish crowned white eagle displayed, rendered in relief with spread wings and head turned to the right, set against a plain field. The circular legend RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin characters, with the date 1949 positioned in the lower field flanked by two raised dots. The eagle, a traditional national symbol of Poland, is depicted without a crown in accordance with the People's Republic heraldic conventions of the period. The design is engraved in a bold, slightly stylized manner characteristic of mid-twentieth century Polish coinage.
