| Obverse description | St. Mark, standing facing left in full ecclesiastical robes, presents a gonfalon-tipped staff to the kneeling Doge at right, who receives it with both hands in a gesture of investiture. The word DVX appears vertically in the central field between the two figures. The peripheral legend identifying the Doge and the patron saint of Venice is engraved in Latin capitals around the coin's border. |

Christ raises his right hand in benediction and holds the Gospels in his left. The devotional Latin legend, invoking Christ as sovereign ruler of the ducat, encircles the design in the outer border, separated by pellet stops in the traditional Venetian zecchino manner. |
