| Obverse description | Central field features the papal coat of arms of Cardinal Carlo Rezzonico, displayed beneath the pontifical tiara with crossed keys and adorned with elaborate tasseled cordons. Above the shield, a dove with outstretched wings descends amid radiating rays of glory, symbolizing the Holy Spirit and the vacancy of the apostolic see. The arms are rendered in fine intaglio detail characteristic of the Hamerani workshop. The circular legend SEDE • VACANTE • runs along the periphery in incuse Latin capitals, referencing the interregnal period following the death of Clement XIII. The coin's milled border provides a crisp frame to the composition. |
