| Reverse description | A full-length frontal figure of Christ in Majesty stands within a beaded oval mandorla lined with six-pointed stars, his right hand raised in benediction and his left hand holding the Gospels. The surrounding Latin legend SIT·T·XPE·DAT·Q·TV REGIS·ISTE·DVCAT· — a votive inscription invoking Christ as the ruler who blesses this ducat — encircles the composition along the coin's periphery. The rendering is consistent with the Byzantine-influenced iconographic tradition maintained on Venetian gold ducats throughout the Republic's coinage history. Stars are scattered both within and around the mandorla, enhancing the celestial character of the design. |
