Obverse description Central field features the Twelve Symbols national emblem of the Republic of China (adopted 1913, abolished 1928), depicting a confronted dragon and phoenix, each holding a sacrificial libation cup, the design surmounted by an axe head (fu) symbolising sovereign authority. The composite device is rendered in high relief with fine engraving detail, conveying imperial iconographic tradition adapted to republican symbolism.
