| Obverse description | The national emblem of the People's Republic of China occupies the central field, depicting Tiananmen Gate surmounted by five stars — one large and four smaller — encircled by an ornamental wreath of grain ears tied at the base with a ribbon and incorporating a cogwheel, all rendered in high relief. The denomination '1元' (1 Yuan) is inscribed in the lower field in Chinese characters. The entire design is framed by a decorative border of stylised scrollwork and leaf motifs. |
