| Reverse description | Central device features a stylized emblem composed of a lush, multi-branched leafy tree in relief, its trunk merging into a decorative ribbon-like motif incorporating a shovel, rendered in a bold, graphic style symbolic of the nationwide voluntary tree-planting campaign. The Chinese legend 全民义务植树运动十周年, commemorating the tenth anniversary of the national voluntary tree-planting movement, curves around the left and right periphery of the field. The date 1991 is inscribed in the lower exergual area. |

China's annual Arbor Day — designated March 12th, a date chosen to honor Sun Yat-sen's death anniversary — became the occasion for a short commemorative series in the early 1990s. This 1991 issue was part of that run, produced at a moment when Beijing was actively promoting reforestation campaigns to address the severe desertification spreading across northern provinces.
