Reverse description Central device depicts a three-masted Chinese junk under full sail, rendered in fine relief, sailing to the right across a stylized choppy sea. The rigging, battened sails, and hull details are crisply engraved in a naturalistic maritime style. To the left of the junk, the Chinese character 圓 (Yuan) appears within a square frame; to the right, the character 壹 (One) is placed in the field, flanking the central motif. The field above the vessel is plain, notably absent of the rising sun and birds found on related standard-issue types. A raised border rim encircles the design.
