| Obverse description | Left-facing truncated bust of Yuan Shikai in military uniform with high collar, rendered in bold high relief characteristic of the so-called 'Fat Man dollar' type. Seven Chinese characters arranged in an arc above the effigy read 中華民國九年造 (Made in Year 9 of the Republic of China), with two characters flanking the portrait on each side. The field is smooth and the entire design is contained within a fine beaded border. The portrait is boldly modelled, with pronounced facial features consistent with the engraving style of Luigi Giorgi. |
