| Obverse description | Central field bears four large Chinese ideograms arranged to be read top to bottom, right to left, flanking a pair of Manchu script characters at centre. An outer ring of additional Chinese ideograms forms the peripheral legend, recording the province of issue, the reign title Guangxu, the cyclical date characters, and the weight denomination. The composition combines Han Chinese and Manchu scripts in a formal, symmetrical layout characteristic of late Qing imperial coinage. |

| Reverse description | A boldly rendered Chinese imperial dragon, coiled in full body and facing forward with an open mouth and prominent horns, occupies the central field, its scaled body curling around a flaming pearl at centre. The dragon's claws, whiskers, and tail are rendered in high relief with fine detail, characteristic of the redesigned Kiangnan dragon type. A beaded inner border separates the dragon motif from the surrounding English-language peripheral legend. The legend, reading KIANG NAN PROVINCE at top and 7 MACE AND 2 CANDAREENS at bottom, is separated by rosette or dot ornaments depending on the die variety. The rim is defined by a fine dentilated border. |
