| Obverse description | Central field bears four large Chinese characters arranged vertically in two columns, flanked by Manchu script characters at centre. The design is encircled by a ring of additional Chinese characters forming the denomination and reign-period legend, reading the cyclical year Wuxu (1898), the Guangxu reign title, and the value of 7 Mace and 2 Candareens. The overall arrangement is formal and symmetrical, consistent with late Qing provincial coinage conventions. |
