| Reverse description | A sinuous five-clawed imperial dragon occupies the central field, depicted in high relief in three-quarter facing view, pursuing a flaming pearl amid stylised clouds and waves rendered along the lower field. The dragon's scales, whiskers, and claws are finely detailed in the characteristic late Qing engraving style. Two Chinese characters (省本, denoting provincial use) flank the dragon at left and right. The surrounding English legend reads 'HU-PEH PROVINCE' along the upper arc and '7 MACE AND 2 CANDAREENS' along the lower arc, separated by the flanking characters. The entire design is enclosed within a continuous beaded border. |
