| Obverse description | Central field displays four large Chinese characters reading 光緒元寶 (Guangxu Yuanbao) arranged vertically and horizontally, flanked by Manchu script. A decorative beaded inner circle surrounds the central inscription, with additional Chinese characters reading 江南省造 (Made in Kiangnan Province) arcing around the upper periphery, and the weight denomination 庫平七錢二分 (7 Mace and 2 Candareens) along the lower periphery. Small floral or star ornaments punctuate the legend at intervals. The overall design is rendered in a bold, deeply struck style characteristic of late Qing provincial mint coinage, with a reeded border framing the entire composition. |
