Comments

The Northwest Branch of the Chinese Soviet Republic National Bank operated out of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia border region — a zone of contested authority where Nationalist currency was actively suppressed and replaced with soviet-issue paper as a tool of economic administration. The bank was not a central institution in any conventional sense; it functioned as a regional instrument of the Jiangxi Soviet's financial policy during the period when the Long March had not yet consolidated communist territorial control into a single coherent zone.

The Pick range S3259–S3264 covers multiple variant issues across the 1933–1936 window, with differences in overprints, serial number formats, and issuing sub-authorities — distinctions that matter considerably for attribution but are frequently collapsed by dealers into a single lot.
