| Obverse description | The national emblem of the People's Republic of China occupies the upper central field, depicting Tiananmen Gate surmounted by five stars within a wreath of ears of grain encircling a cogwheel at the base. Below the emblem, a panoramic view of Tiananmen Square is rendered in low relief, flanked by monumental public buildings. Radiating lines and bursting fireworks fill the surrounding field, evoking a celebratory atmosphere. Three lines of Chinese legend appear in the lower field: the country name, the commemorative inscription marking the 35th founding anniversary, and the date range 1949–1984. |
