| Obverse description | Front-facing draped bust effigy of Zhang Zuolin, Generalissimo and Warlord of Manchuria, depicted in a traditional Chinese mandarin collar garment with a decorative button at the chest. The portrait is rendered in high relief with strong sculptural modelling of facial features, including a distinctive short moustache. A six-character Chinese commemorative legend arcs across the upper field, reading right to left. The design is enclosed by a continuous beaded border of small raised stars. |
