Surrounding the inner circle, a legend in Chinese characters reads 中華民國共和紀念幣 (Founding Commemorative Coin of the Republic of China), arranged around the upper and lateral periphery. The Latin legend ONE DOLLAR arcs along the lower portion of the outer field. The entire design is contained within a beaded border.
