| Obverse description | Light brown note with a central vignette of Takenouchi no Sukune at right, printed in letterpress. A four-character Chinese overprint runs across the centre of the note. The overall design is spare, with the underprint in a pale tonal ground consistent with Japanese military currency production of the period. |

A column of smaller Chinese text at the far right contains the exchange and anti-counterfeiting notice. |
