Reverse description A large ornate cross potent, centrally placed and boldly struck, with flared and bifurcated terminals on each arm, occupying nearly the full flan. The cross is rendered in high relief against a plain field, consistent with the hammered technique employed at the Goa mint. The irregular flan edges and the forceful, deeply impressed design are characteristic of this series of small gold xerafins struck under José I.
