| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the crowned Portuguese royal arms (quinas shield), displaying the characteristic five escutcheons arranged in cross formation, each charged with five bezants. The shield is surmounted by a royal crown and flanked by decorative mantling. A circular legend in Latin runs along the periphery within a beaded border, partially visible due to the hammered flan. The overall style is consistent with late 17th-century Portuguese colonial coinage produced at the Damão mint. |
