| Reverse description | A detailed frontal view of the restored Tomb of King Tongmyong (Dongmyong Wangreung), the legendary founder of the Goguryeo kingdom, dominates the central field. The pyramidal burial mound rises above a broad ceremonial approach flanked by stone guardian statues of animals, including horses and mythological figures, set amid stylised trees with mountain peaks and clouds rendered in the background. The curved Latin legend 'TOMB OF KING TONGMYONG' arcs along the upper periphery. Below the central design, the Hangul inscription '동명왕릉' and the legend '2300년보존' appear, with 'Juche 91 (2002)' inscribed in Latin script at the base. |
