Obverse description The State Emblem of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea occupies the central field, depicting a hydroelectric dam and power pylons before a mountain landscape, framed by sheaves of rice tied with a ribbon bearing the state name in Hangul, and surmounted by a five-pointed star emitting rays. A circular legend in Hangul reading 'Central Bank of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea' runs along the upper periphery, while two small decorative sprigs flank the lower field. The denomination '1 원' (1 Won) appears in the lower exergue beneath the emblem.
