| Obverse description | The State Emblem of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea occupies the central field, depicting a stylized hydroelectric dam and power lines before Mount Paektu, framed by sheaves of rice bound with a ribbon bearing the national inscription, and surmounted by a five-pointed star with radiating rays. A circular Hangul legend reading '조선민주주의인민공화국중앙은행' (Central Bank of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea) runs along the upper periphery. The denomination '1 원' (1 Won) is inscribed at the base of the design, flanked by decorative laurel sprigs in low relief. |
