Reverse description A group of four Goryeo celadon ceramic vessels is depicted in fine relief occupying the central field: at left, a tall ewer with a lobed, gourd-shaped body decorated with inlaid floral roundels and a curved handle; at centre, a large globular teapot with elaborate foliate scroll handles, a tall trumpet neck, and a deeply carved peony motif on the body; at lower centre-left, a small cup on a saucer; and at right, two smaller vases with inlaid geometric and floral decoration. The Hangul inscription '고려 청자기' (Goryeo Celadon) arcs along the upper legend, and the date '2001' is placed in the lower exergue.

Additional information

North Korea's commemorative output in the early 2000s was largely produced for the export collector market rather than domestic circulation — hard currency was the point, not numismatic pride. This aluminium striking of KM#294a exists alongside a brass version of the same type, an unusual pairing that suggests the mint was experimenting with presentation options for foreign distributors. Aluminium at this diameter and weight is a notably thick planchet, which occasionally produces uneven surface texture across the field.
