Obverse description Central shield bearing the Hamburg nettleleaf (Nesselblatt) device, rendered in the Gothic heraldic style typical of early sixteenth-century Hanseatic coinage. The shield is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, beyond which runs the circular Latin legend. The date appears at the conclusion of the obverse legend.
