Reverse description A bold long cross divides the reverse field into four quarters, each containing a small rampant lion passant, mirroring the civic heraldic device of Lüneburg. Pellet or trefoil stops punctuate the quarters near the centre. The circumferential legend SANCTVS MARCVS, written in uncial characters and referencing the city's patron Saint Mark, runs around the outer border within a beaded or plain rim.
