Obverse description Facing bull's head, rendered in bold relief, surmounted by a fleur-de-lis crown; the head is set within a beaded inner circle, with an uncial Gothic legend running around the periphery. The bull's head is the heraldic symbol of the city of Wismar, depicted with characteristic medieval stylisation. Small decorative elements appear at the base of the design below the chin.

Reverse description A cross pattée with trefoil or floral terminals at each arm, centrally placed within a beaded inner circle. Small pellets or floral ornaments occupy the angles between the arms of the cross. An uncial Gothic legend surrounds the design in the outer field, reading continuously around the coin's periphery.
