Obverse description Central field displays a large crowned heraldic shield bearing a rampant lion, the arms of Jülich, flanked by two smaller shields in the angles of a cross. The composition is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the peripheral Latin legend reading REINALDVS DVX IVL ET GEL running around the full circumference. The overall design is characteristic of late medieval Rhenish hammered coinage, with bold, slightly irregular relief typical of hand-struck production.
