Additional information

Adolph IX ruled Berg during a period of sustained friction between the Rhineland territorial counts and the increasingly assertive monetary policies of neighboring ecclesiastical mints. The Weisspfennig — literally "white penny," named for the pale silver wash applied to a largely copper flan — was a denomination widely debased across the lower Rhine by the 1420s, and Berg was no exception. Noss catalogued this type with notable variation in silver content across the emission period.

The reference to Noss Be#113 places this squarely within the Berg-specific sequence, distinct from the similarly named issues of Jülich and Kleve minted concurrently under the same denominational pressure.
