| Obverse description | Central shield bearing the Habsburg diagonal bend (fess) over a quartered field, surmounted by a crowned imperial eagle displayed. The heraldic arms are rendered in the late Renaissance style typical of Habsburg minor coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the shield, reading MAXIMI D G ARCH AVS, abbreviating the titles of Archduke Maximilian III of Austria. The coin is struck on a small, irregularly shaped flan characteristic of hammered billon issues of the period. |
