Obverse description Central device features the Venezuelan coat of arms, depicting a quartered shield with a sheaf of wheat, crossed flags and arms, and a galloping horse in the lower section, all surmounted by a cornucopia of tropical fruits and flora. The shield is flanked by an olive branch to the left and a palm frond to the right, with two scrolled ribbons below inscribed with the dates and mottoes of Venezuelan independence. The peripheral legend reads ESTADOS UNIDOS DE VENEZUELA, with weight and fineness specifications GRAM. 25 and LEI 900 flanking the date 1874 at the base, all within a beaded border.
