| Obverse description | Cast brass cash coin featuring a central square perforation flanked by four Chinese characters arranged in cruciform fashion within a plain inner rim and raised outer rim. The four-character legend reads clockwise from the top: 元 (Yuan), 通 (Tong), 隆 (Long), 寶 (Bao), rendered in bold, slightly cursive-style relief characters typical of Vietnamese Nguyen-dynasty cash coinage. The field between the inner and outer rims is flat and unadorned, and the overall execution reflects the conventional Nguyen-style cast coin format adopted by rebel-issued currency of the period. |

| Reverse description | Plain reverse with a central square perforation surrounded by a broad, largely unadorned inner field, bordered by a raised outer rim. A single small Chinese character 昌 (Chang, meaning 'prosperity' or 'auspicious') is cast in low relief to the right of the square hole, consistent with a mint or auspicious mark. The reverse surface shows the characteristic rough texture of cast brass production, with minimal additional decoration. |
