| Obverse description | Cast copper cash coin of the standard East Asian round-with-square-hole form, bearing the four-character legend 正隆元寶 (Zheng Long Yuan Bao) rendered in seal script (zhuanshu), arranged in the conventional cross pattern around the central square perforation. The characters are read top-to-bottom, right-to-left: 正 (zheng) above, 寶 (bao) below, 隆 (long) to the right, and 元 (yuan) to the left. The raised characters emerge from a flat inner field and are bounded by a plain inner rim encircling the square hole and a plain outer rim at the coin's periphery. The overall surface displays an olive-green and brown patina consistent with age and burial, with areas of verdigris visible across the field. |
