Obverse description Crowned and draped bust of King Charles I facing left, rendered in the third bust style of Group C, with detailed lace collar and royal robes visible at the truncation. The crown is an ornate imperial arched crown. The value mark XX (twenty shillings) appears to the right of the bust in the field. A beaded inner circle frames the effigy, with the Latin legend running between the inner circle and the coin's edge: CAROLVS·D:G:MA:BR:FR:ET:HI:REX, denoting Charles by the Grace of God King of Great Britain, France and Ireland.
