Reverse description An anchor depicted in relief, rendered in a bold, schematic style typical of early Italian bronze coinage. The anchor is centered on the flan with flukes splayed at the base and a crossbar at the upper shaft. In some specimens, a single letter appears to the right of the anchor in the field, serving as a control mark or die identifier. The flan edges are irregular, consistent with cast aes grave fabric.
