| Reverse description | Central field bears a multi-line Nasta'liq inscription recording the mint name and regnal year, reading 'Zarb Mashhad Muqaddas' (struck at holy Mashhad) followed by the AH date. The legend is enclosed within a plain raised inner circle, surrounded by a continuous outer border of uniformly spaced raised beads. The purely epigraphic design, devoid of figural or ornamental motifs, is characteristic of Qajar provincial gold coinage of the Nasir al-Din Shah period. The AH date at the foot of the inscription identifies the specific year of issue within the series. |
