| Obverse description | Central field displays a trident symbol rendered in archaic, schematic style, with three upward-pointing tines rising from a long vertical shaft. Four pellets are arranged symmetrically in pairs flanking the shaft, serving as value marks denoting the triens denomination (four unciae, equivalent to one-third of an As). The design is contained within a plain raised border, and the broad, irregular flan exhibits the characteristic coarse fabric of early central Italian aes grave coinage. |
