Obverse description Pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of King Liutprand facing right, with a mint or workshop letter positioned in the field before the effigy. The bust is rendered in the late antique Byzantine tradition characteristic of Lombard gold coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, reading D N LI - VTPRDN RX V C, an abbreviated form of Dominus Noster Liutprand Rex. The overall style reflects the debased but recognizable imperial portraiture common to early eighth-century Italian tremisses.
