Obverse description Pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Maurice Tiberius facing right, rendered in a simplified, pseudo-imperial style characteristic of early medieval Lombard-Tuscan imitative coinage. The effigy is enclosed by a circular border of pellets and surrounded by a degenerate Latin legend derived from imperial prototypes. The portrait exhibits schematic facial features and stylized lined drapery typical of late 7th-century Italian sub-antique production.
