Obverse description Right-facing pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Justin I, rendered in the late antique style characteristic of Burgundian imitative coinage. The effigy is encircled by a Latin legend reading across the field. The portraiture, though derivative of official Byzantine prototypes, exhibits the simplified and slightly stylized execution typical of Burgundian workshops operating in the name of the Eastern emperor.
