| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, the Virgin Mary (Theotokos) stands facing, nimbed and draped, presenting a crown to King Leo I, who stands to her right wearing a crown and royal regalia. The king is depicted in a slightly smaller scale in a gesture of reverence. An Armenian legend runs in the outer field between the beaded border and the serrated rim. |
