Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Ferdinand I facing left, portrayed with curling hair beneath a laurel wreath. The effigy is rendered in moderate relief within a plain inner circle. The surrounding legend reads FERD·I·D·G·REGNI SICILIARUM ET HIER·REX, identifying the monarch as Ferdinand I, by the grace of God King of the Sicilies and Jerusalem. The inscription runs continuously around the periphery in Roman capitals.
