| Obverse description | Crowned bust of Naser al-Din Shah facing left, wearing an ornate jewelled crown and elaborately decorated military uniform. The effigy is framed within a wreath of laurel and floral branches tied at the base. Two cartouches in nastaliq script flank the portrait in the upper field, one to the left and one to the right, containing elements of the royal title and regnal inscription. The border is formed by a fine toothed or granulated rim characteristic of Qajar hammered coinage. |
