| Obverse description | Central field bears a four-line Arabic-script legend naming the ruler, enclosed within a finely beaded inner circle. The legend reads 'Al-Sultan Naser al-Din Shah Qajar' in flowing Nastaliq calligraphy. Surrounding the inner circle is a symmetrical wreath composed of laurel and oak branches tied with a ribbon at the base, with the mint name 'Tehran' inscribed at the lower portion of the wreath. The entire design is contained within a beaded outer border. |

Naser al-Din Shah's reign saw the Toman repeatedly debased as the Qajar treasury lurched between fiscal crises and foreign loan obligations. The 1877 dating places this piece in the period following the Shah's first European tour of 1873, a journey that generated enormous expenditure and accelerated the sale of commercial concessions to Russian and British interests to cover costs.
KM#930 is the reduced-weight standard established after earlier heavier Toman types were quietly retired. The 3.24g specification reflects that adjustment.
