Obverse description Central field dominated by a large, bold Arabic-script legend arranged in two registers within a rectangular cartouche, reading the royal titulature of Fath Ali Shah Qajar. The inscription 'Al-Sultan ibn al-Sultan Fath Ali Shah Qajar' is boldly struck in the Nasta'liq calligraphic style, with the AH date 1221 appearing in the lower portion of the field. The overall design is characteristically Qajar in style, with the legend filling nearly the entire flan in the hand-struck hammered tradition.
