Additional information

Issued to mark the 50th anniversary of the Mongolian People's Revolution of 1921, which brought Soviet-backed forces under Damdin Sükhbaatar to power and established what became the world's second socialist state after Russia. The commemorative program of which this coin is part was produced in limited quantities primarily for international export and collector sale — hard currency revenue that the MPR actively pursued through the 1970s, often contracting with European mints.

KM#34b distinguishes the silver version from the aluminum circulation piece; the "b" suffix reflects a deliberate bifurcation in the issue for different markets.
