The Mongolian Trade and Industry Bank was established in 1924 as a joint Soviet-Mongolian venture, with the USSR holding a majority stake — a financial arrangement that made Goznak the natural choice for printing the inaugural banknote series. These 1925 tögrög notes were among the first issues of a fully independent Mongolian currency, replacing the Chinese taels and Russian rubles that had circulated simultaneously in the country for decades.
The tögrög itself was introduced at parity with the Soviet chervonets ruble, anchoring Mongolia's monetary system firmly to Moscow from the outset. P#7 is one of the lower denominations in that founding series.
