| Obverse description | Four large Chữ Nôm characters arranged in cruciform fashion around the central square hole, reading 紹治通寶 (Thiệu Trị Thông Bảo), meaning 'Thiệu Trị Current Treasure.' The reign title 紹治 (Thiệu Trị) is positioned to the top and left of the central perforation, while the denomination legend 通寶 (Thông Bảo) appears to the right and bottom. The bold, deeply cast characters are rendered in a classical Chinese clerical script style, set within a plain, slightly raised field with an inner square rim surrounding the central square aperture. |
