| Obverse description | Central square hole surrounded by four large Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu), arranged in the traditional reading order: top (明), right (通), bottom (命), left (寶), forming the reign title and monetary legend 明命通寶. The characters are bold and deeply cast in raised relief, occupying the four quadrants of the coin's flat field. A raised rim borders the outer edge, and a raised square frame surrounds the central perforation, both characteristic of Vietnamese cast cash coinage of the Nguyễn dynasty. |

| Reverse description | Plain flat field with no inscriptions, symbols, or decorative elements, pierced at center by the characteristic square hole framed by a raised square border. The surface shows the natural texture of cast silver with a raised outer rim. This uniface design is typical of Vietnamese cash coins of the Nguyễn period, where the reverse was intentionally left blank. |
